PTB PhysioTeam Berthold in Rostock

Sports physiotherapy

Sports physiotherapy is suitable for immediate measures after injury and optimized treatments for fast recovery. We apply different physical techniques from the high-performance sport.

The PhysioTeam Berthold follows the goals of improving the strength, acceleration, speed, condition and coordination in the respective sport through specific training, adjusted to the needs of the athlete.

This doesn’t include only the care for top athletes. Our sports physiotherapy cooperates also with recreational athletes and all people who want to increase their physical activities. Furthermore, the sports physiotherapy consists of four main cores, which are indispensable in the care in sports.

These are

  • the prevention of injury
  • the care for traumas and lesions on the side lines
  • the rehabilitation after sports injuries
  • the sports-specific performance increase

In all these areas, we work together with our patients and want to support them with optimal care in sports.

There are two different kinds of taping, which we are present here:

1. Classic taping

In classic taping, a joint is stabilized or immobilized by an inelastic material. This technique is mainly used after injuries such as fractures or ligament overstretching. With this technique we support and relieve the affected joint in everyday life or sports. Furthermore, it also serves as a correction. The clinical picture of the "hallux valgus" (obliquity of the big toe) is an example for the healing effect of taping. Classic taping generates the relief of the joint and a correction of the big toe.

2. K-Taping (Kinesiotape)

The methods with the elastic tape are not practicably with the classic tape.

K-tapes follow the course of muscles, nerves and lymph channels / networks of lymph channels. They are glued independently to any positions of the body and do not restrict the movement of the patient. It also reduces oedema, improves lymphatic and blood circulation. K-Tapes improve the proprioception. The muscle function normalizes, and tendons and ligaments are supported. The result is a quick pain reduction and improvement of joint and muscle functions.
